Over-the-Counter Acne Treatment

By Sherril Steele-Carlin

Sure, there are plenty of over-the-counter acne treatments available, but none of them attack the hormone DHT that actually causes acne in the first place. Until now, that is.

Los Angeles dermatologist Dr. Alex Khadavi has developed the first ever over-the-counter anti-DHT topical acne treatment. In the past, DHT has been treated by prescription grade products like Acutane, and acne sufferers had no choice for DHT treatment but to visit their dermatologist.

DHT can ebb and flow for a variety of reasons, such as pregnancy, lack of sleep, etc., and up until now, there was little anyone could do about it unless they saw a dermatologist and got a prescription. Now, they can obtain "Clearogen" over-the-counter that helps treat acne before it actually starts. Often, the Clearogen treatment costs far less than a visit to the dermatologist and the subsequent prescription.

What Causes Acne?

Acne is caused by too much oil secreted through the skin's oil glands. Normally these glands produce enough oil to keep our skin healthy, shiny, and young. However, when the body hormone DHT (Dihydro Testosterone) is present, these glands produce excessive amounts of oil resulting in the formation of acne. DHT is a hormone by-product created by both males and females predominantly during puberty. As the levels of DHT increase, the oil glands become overly stimulated and produce too much oil. This excessive oil accumulates in the pores and clogs the pores, resulting in acne.

How Do You Treat Acne?

Many over-the-counter medications exist to treat acne. Most contain the active ingredient Benzoyl Peroxide, and most do not treat acne at the actual hormonal source, they treat the surface acne after it appears and recommend frequent washings with medicated soap to keep acne at bay. Perhaps the most famous of these medications is "Clearasil," which has been on the market for many years. However, Clearogen actually treats the cause of acne, overproduction of skin oils, rather than simply treating the outbreak after it starts. That's what makes this new product special and unique.

What Does Clearogen Do?

Most over-the-counter treatments treat acne that has already occurred. They treat the outbreak, and not the cause (the hormone DHT). However, Clearogen helps stop the body's testosterone from turning into DHT, so too much oil is not secreted and the skin stays clear of acne breakouts. It also opens the pores and kills bacteria, which helps stop existing acne from spreading. It also stops DHT from actually stimulating the oil glands.

So, if you suffer from acne, or know someone who does, try this new product that may help stop your acne even before it gets started.
